    hello again.

I am working on project. In 3-4days I might get pcb done.
I have a doubt of connecting GPS module output to MAX3232.GPS module o/p has 8 wires while max3232 has 4 i/p.

How i need this to be connected?
Which wires I need to choose(like 1,2.....8,extreme right is red colored)?

About the same project,I got an idea

In this we are going to develop +5v power supply which will connect to LM317 which is regulator. What i think is that instead of developing a power supply we can connect it to USB o/p port and get the supply from there, this would certainly reduce the hardware and even would provide flexibility of using GPS system anywhere by connecting it to laptop.

About USb port o/p,it has output of +5v at 500mA.This can be given as a input to LM317 regulator.

And even to USB out port we connect up to 127 devices

    Comment on this idea.

    tx again.

    hello!!
    I am working on project.
PCB is all ready with components mounted, but now i am stuck up...

    The same problem as b4.
I went through lots of files but i was'nt able to fix it

The problem is that there are 8 out pins of Lassen iQ GPS module and it needs to be interfaced with max3232
you said me b4 that look out for tx,rx and gnd pins n interface those, but i did'nt get tx,rx and gnd pin of GPS module
The output from module are 8 parallel lines with 1 line red coloured

please tell me where should i begin from
my project is all most done just need to interface and all done.

    reply soon
    thank u

I Have added a tutorial section for interfacing GPS with microcontroller as well as PC, please go through it. Please check the Code library and visual basic links on the main page.
The Red wire is pin 1.

I have corrected the circuit please visit the project page for the new circuit.

The Red line is number 1 and the next is 2 and so on
connect to the circuit according to the pin numbers given in the circuit.
    also please check this
    http://www.8051projects.info/exp12.asp

check the voltage of the regulator output before connecting it to the GPS and it should be +3.3v.

    hello
    J.Binu

finally i did connection and tried to connect GPS reciever, but it did'nt work.

I got a message unable to detect reciever.

I tried with your PC BASED DRIVER and also tried with Trimble GPS Monitor software but did'nt work.

I even went through quick start guide and followed the steps but did'nt work.

what else options i can look for ??

Have you use the IQ monitor software to check the GPS. Check all the voltages to the GPS. Have you connected the 3v battery to the GPS. Also the GPS will take around 2-5min to sent the data for the first time.
