74hc595 is just an Shift register, it does not load any data.

Most of the Shift registers will have a carry out. you can couple the carry out to the next shift register.

    hi,

sir i am having problem in moving data using 74hc595,every time 5 byte data is being displayed on all the 5 columns at once, means each column is displaying the 5 byte data single handedly.

Could you plz guide me that how the clock pulse should be to mentioned shift register so that data will be shifting one by one.

    thank you.

to make your life easier, use decade counter like CD4017, it just requires clock pulses.
