    Hi
    I?m doing a small project, and I?m a beginner.
    Description:
-Reading pulses from Binary encoder which at working speed generate 3MHz square wave pulses.
-Digital sensor which capture the encoder counter in a 400Hz.
-Mathematical calculations are required to be performed on the encoder counter captures likes STDV and average.
-The results of the mathematical calculation shall be displayed on 4X16 LCD.
-The results shall be saved on an internal memory.
-The results shall be transferred to a PC when needed via USB interface.

I need help and recommendations for MCU, and a way to count and capture the encoder pulses.
    Thanks :)

i don't think an 8 bit microcontroller can measure a frequency of 3Mhz.
You have to go for arm processors.

arm processors are 32bit processors while the 8051 are 8bit processors, search in google for more details.
